Commercial buildings are noted to consume large amounts of energy, upwards of 17% of the total national usage at a cost of more than $1 billion per year. The Environmental Protection Agency is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advocates for a consumption reduction plan. It is also becoming more popular for buildings to become LEED certified, a process that requires strict standards of energy manage be met. The Department of Energy offers these tips for improving the energy efficiency of commercial buildings.
