Cloud computing

Cloud computing – describes when virtual servers are used to house applications and user data, taking the information out of the hardware and putting it at a neutral, third-party location. This allows people to increase storage capacity and computing capabilities without investing in internal infrastructure systems.

Common usage:

The term “the cloud” has come to mean “the internet” broadly. Marketers have popularized the term to cover platforms and infrastructure that are sold “as a service” or remotely, through the internet.
