With the holiday weeks upon us, traffic is lighter but the work isn’t necessarily any slower. Hopefully you’ll have time to relax over the next two weeks, you deserve it! But in the meantime, while you finish up a few things before heading out of town, here are some things that happened in our industry this week.

Automation.com pulled out a helpful article from the archives, to explore PLC vs. DCS and how to know when it’s time for a new automation architecture.

Our Brian Turner appeared on Control Trends’ Control Talk Now web series to discuss our DataEye Pro product and the Big Data trend in building automation. And while we’re talking about ourselves, we posted another Niagara another technical breakdown of a helpful Niagara tool, this time focusing on scheduling, just in time for wonky holiday schedules.

In the December issue of Area Development, Spencer Rigler from Eister EnergyICT laid out all the ways that energy efficiency lines up with business goals.

To round us out with big forward-thinking for the new year, Greentechmedia explored the Big Data smart grid possibilities for 2014.
